My cousin and I spent a delightful 3 nights in this beautifully converted 1800's schoolhouse, just prior to the special event of her ordination. She wanted me to see Rhode Island in the Fall, so discovered this charming VRBO as one of our bases of operations for the week. It was perfect and the owners were so hospitable! We had fresh, free range eggs, a beautiful kitchen in which to cook as needed, comfortable beds, fireplace as needed, new washer and dryer, lovely grounds. In all, just a lovely setting in an immaculate and wonderfully historic property. The decor was enhanced by all of the research that traced the history and ownership of this beautiful, one-room schoolhouse. Vintage farm implements, toys of the era--made this a fascinating place to stay. I'm hoping to return during summertime, but Fall was gorgeous! We enjoyed a number of restaurants, including The Mooring in Newport, the Barn in Little Compton, the restaurant overlooking the bay in Portsmouth, delightful shops in Bristol and Tiverton Four Corners, etc. Galleries were fun and so were the farms and farm stands. The schoolhouse is perfect for just about anyone wishing to explore this lovely part of New England!
