The Samuel Church estate is a wonderful and grand old house with updated amenities... a perfect mix of the historic and modern. From the minute we drove in past the Spite Tower, we were charmed. Set on a large, stone-wall enclosed lot, the house has beautiful, old-growth pine floors, eight fireplaces (each one thoughtfully decorated), tons of space, and many cool, old features, like beehive ovens. It also has a well-equipped and comfortable kitchen where we gathered to cook and eat together. We were treated to a spectacular sunset behind the Spite Tower too. Our host, Kristin, was super responsive and welcoming, even providing a Christmas tree and decorations! We had a great time and hope to be back to see how the ongoing renovations turn out. I highly recommend treating yourself to a visit!
